Skint Vs. Church

Seb WIldblood returns to the Skint imprint as a follow up to his 2014, “Barcelona / Blue Colour” EP. Shadowed by his label mate Apes, this release sees the two take on either side of the 10” with a familiar sound echoed by their Church imprint.

Wildblood ignites the record with the bubbly and soothing concoction of “Noshi” that flows seemingly under the vocals of Phantasy affiliate Kelly Lee Owens.

Whilst Apes sits close on the flip side with a more club friendly ode to the city, “Mortimer Road”. An eerie night time synth crawls through the suburban sounds of Apes that we’ve been conditioned with since the up-rise of the Church sound.

X-Press 2 - MMXV

X-Press 2 are gearing up for an exciting 2015 with a formidable string of releases due on Skint, and further high profile labels. But before they enter a new chapter we offer a set of un-released dance floor driven productions that wrap up the duo’s last few years of works and set of Single/EP’s that saw release on the Skint catalogue. This is MMXV.

True to the body of work that was appearing in the period of production, MMXV introduces itself with “You’re Gone”, a house roller that woos you into the groove. “Down” continues to pursue the dance floor with rattling vocals and shaking percussion.

As we flip the 12”, we are warmed by “Cirius Stab”, which softens the beat and fixates us with a bubbly sense of joy. To further, an act renown for cow bells since 1992 with the anthem “Muzik Xpress”, “Remedy” delivers a smooth ode to the UK house sound that X-Press 2 were constructively heavily involved with.

Jozef K & Winter Son

Two talented and experienced house heads in the form of Jozef K & Winter Son hook up for this fresh new EP on Skint. It was in the hallowed bowels of Berghain that Winter Son (aka Ghosting Season/worriedaboutsatan member Thomas Ragsdale) met Sankeys resident DJ Jozef K, and since then the pair have been cooking up plenty of club ready greatness. They have released on labels like Sasha’s Last Night On Earth, Rebirth and New York’s Let’s Play House and now they take us on another trip through some proper hardware jams this time on the legendary Skint.

First up is title track ‘Dancing Chaos Star’, a deep, spiritual bit of house with buried basslines, organic and seductive vocal samples and a slinky sense of groove that percolates throughout, keeping you locked from start to finish. Then comes ‘Forbidden Ritual’, a slightly more unhinged track with skewed synth lines, well treated vocals and a sense of dark tension that rises up throughout. Jacking percussion and oodles of reverb make this a truly resonant cut that will no doubt fill an entire warehouse with sound. Finally, ‘Strike The Shepherd & The Sheep Will Scatter’ is another spine tingling cut with dirty bass stabs, explosive percussive patterns and a raved up energy that will make floors really sweat in the coming months.

This is an EP that exudes class and quality and is another real winner from the minds of Jozef K & Winter Son.

Hervé joins ranks at Skint

No stranger to the highs of Skint Records, we are delighted to welcome back the illustrious Hervé.

With previous remixes of Kidda, and collaborations with Fatboy Slim already seeing the light via the label, this new production is nothing short of his previous success.

Teaming up with Trevor Loveys, the mastermind behind House of 909 and former member of Switch, “Jackin’ With Your Mum” perfectly ignites a jacking, bassy roller that works it’s way around the themes of lyrical genius.
